Lots of people have problems getting to sleep easily and over the years they have tried everything for a good nights rest.  One method that seems to get a lot of good results is listening to music, white noise or ASMR whilst trying to nod off.  Sadly most headphones and earphones are not designed for sleeping and can cause significant discomfort if left in.  Many users use them to get to sleep but then have to wake up again once they roll onto their side or front.

Most headphones will be used whilst you are awake and thus are not put under the strain or abuse that you might put you sleeping headphones through.  When you sleep you will be making contact with the pillow as well as turning and rolling.  This can cause significant wear and strain on ordinary headphones so you are going to need something that is either tough and durable enough to take the abuse or something that is specifically designed to be used in such a way.

Are they comfortable to wear all night long?

This is the most important factor.  After all, if you aren’t comfortable you are going to have problems falling asleep quickly and even more trouble trying to stay asleep. You want something that you would be happy to wear when you try to get your full of 8 hours of sleep without experiencing pain or discomfort.  If you have any issues with particular styles of headphones during the day then you can bet that this will be amplified at night.  

Is sound important when choosing a set of headphones for sleeping?

The sound is hugely important when choosing a set of headphones but when choosing them to sleep in your priorities should be somewhat different.  In this case, you shouldn’t worry about out and out fidelity but rather you should be looking for something that doesn’t do anything jarring or annoying that might put you off your sleep.  Examples of this could be a distracting background hiss or even a sharp treble spike.  Both of these can be off putting enough that you start thinking about the sound rather than drifting off.

When it comes to sound you want your headphones or earphones to be smooth and inoffensive.  Neutral and balanced headphones with low impedance do well here but I also would look past a set of headphones with toned down high notes.

Over-Ear Headphones vs. On-Ear Headphones vs. In-ear headphones

Not all headphone styles are best suited for sleeping and you will probably have a good idea from the start what you are looking for.  A bulky full-size set of headphones is going to have trouble staying on your head and thus give you very little room for movement.  A set of in-ear headphones (earphones) may push to deep into the canal if you sleep on your side.  

That said there are workarounds for existing designs and some models that will work better than others and we have included them below. Additionally, there are a number of companies that have designed earphones especially for the purpose of sleeping.  Some of these are rather unique and no the thing you would want to be seen on the street with but for use in bed they are awesome.

Try these solutions instead

Before I run down the list of the 10 best headphones for sleeping I thought I would also give you a couple of other options that might help you to get to sleep a bit easier.  Some of these have worked well for me in the past soi think they are well worth mentioning.

Foam Earplugs

No not the set you got at a hotel or some other rubbish off-cut of foam.  After trying lots of different noise-blocking earplugs in the past I have pretty much settled on the perfect ones.  The Howard Leight Laser Lite Plugs. 

Don’t be tempted by any other brand or even HL’s own higher decibel rated models, the ones you want are the yellow and pink laser lite model.  These are by far the best and comfiest earplugs I have ever used for sleeping and I highly recommend them.  They last upwards of 10 uses per set and a box of 200 pairs should only cost you about $20, so you can buy in bulk on these and save big.

Custom Molded Earplugs

I had some success with custom molded earplugs in the past even though I now prefer the disposable kind mentioned above.  I recommend trying the Decibullz Custom Molded Earplugs . These are a set of DIY custom molds that you make at home and they fit exactly to your outer ear.  The process is a bit tricky so get some help if you think you need it but all in it takes about 10 mins to set them into a reusable set or earplugs that block out a lot of external noise.

Pyle Bluetooth Pillow Speaker

Sometimes I wish I could be single again just to go back to using the Pyle pillow speaker.  For about a year this was my solution to a good nights rest.  One of the problems with using say a bedside speaker is that the sound is mono-directional.  The Pyle solves this by placing a left and right speaker inside your pillow.  I really started appreciating it when listening to ambient noise recording but obviously, it isn’t a viable solution if you share a bed with someone.

How much should I spend?

I would say that you can get away with your sleeping headphones being pretty cheap.  They are after all there to help you get to sleep and when you are asleep you won’t be doing the much critical listening.  The good news is that most of the companies that are making sleep specific headphones don’t charge an arm and a leg for it. 

Special note: Bose Sleepbuds

Since this review was originally published I have had a lot of people ask me what my thoughts are on the new Bose Sleepbuds. I have been testing these sleeping earbuds for the past few months and have to admit they are pretty great. In fact they have given me some of the best nights sleep I have had in years. We ill have a full review up soon and generally after some teething our impressions are positive. That said they are extremely expensive in comparison with the headphones listed bellow. How to choose the Best Laptops for Architecture in 2019

Unfortunately for architects (especially old timers), today’s architectural design and drafting are mostly done on computers.

Undoubtedly you’ll need either a desktop or a powerful laptop capable of handling the viewport of large models/designs in CAD software such as Revit, walkthroughs in 3DS Max and for the advanced version of “sketch up”, Rhino.

While professional architects may be able to get away with a desktop, architecture students have no other choice but to rely on a laptop since they’re constantly on the move.

This is only true for during their second year where  the old fashioned architecture tools are replaced by CAD software.

But…

It doesn’t necessarily mean students & architects need to buy the most powerful, heaviest or even worse ultra expensive laptops out there as shown around other sites.

Weight
The most ideal weight is ~3lb unfortnately laptops with graphics card & just enough power for architecture software goes beyond that. Try to pick the ligthest you can afford.

Preamble out the way. Let’s get down to business….

The best laptop for hacking? Obviously it needs to look cool… with lots of skull stickers on it and lots of antennas sticking out.

No but seriously….Why is Cyber Security on the title?

Well, “black hat/malicious/real hacking” (exactly what you have in mind) is just a derivative of white hat/penetration testing (people who are hired by companies to find vulnerabilities in their systems and fix them before the hacks like you bring it down).

I obviously can’t just write a post encouraging to hack and tell you what kind of hardware you should get to start hacking. I would get into trouble myself.

So I am using Cyber Security/PenTesting as an excuse to tell you all you need to know about hacking systems and the hardware for it.

What will you find in this post?

First of all. I am assuming you just started your journey into jail and you are not a real hacker. If you were, you’d know by now that it’s more about knowledge/skills than hardware.
Real hackers can do some serious hacking with a raspberry pie. Yes, it sounds delicious but it’s actually a computer. The tiniest PC/laptop in existence today.

So yeah it doesn’t matter what laptop you use.

On the other hand…

There are laptops out there that can make hacking a bit easier but mostly they’ll make hack into systems much faster and that’s what you’ll find on this post.

What kind of hardware requirements does a computer tailored for hacking needs to have?

Before we get out hands dirty let me reiterate again:

This post is for informational purposes only and I do not encourage you to become a hacker. I’d recommend getting a laptop that has the ability to get on the Internet…and probably show graphics. Oh, having a keyboard and some USB ports are nice too.

No but seriously to give you the hardware specifications you need to know what a hacker (or pen-tester does) most of the time. All the details about hacking and these activities are outlined at the end of the section. For now I’ll just summarize it here:

1. Run virtual machines (even on top of virtual machines sometimes): most of the hardware will be tailored towards this.

2. Access to all programming environments and most languages: not much hardware this just meanst avoiding low-end cheap laptops & chromebooks. 3. Serious and heavy data crunching (for cracking passwords): you can do all of this with any laptop but a faster CPU & GPU comes in handy to make it go faster. The hardware requirements to do all the above: RAM

For a virtual penetration testing lab with at least 4-5VMs running: 16-32GB. If you aren’t doing that, you need at least 8GB because running Kali on a VM is a must.

CPU
Likewise for running several VMs, a late quad core or six core generation processor.
Ex: i7HQ-7000HQ i7-8750H. Password cracking/data crunching any quadcore processor helps a bit but it’s not required. Otherwise any other processor is fine.

GPU
To make brute force password cracking really fast. Get the most recent NVIDIA GPUs(gaming cards with cuda cores): 9xxGTM or even the 10X0 GTX series with as much vRAM & CUDA cores you can afford. The software for that uses NVIDIA GPUs are their primary memory resource.NetWork Adapter
A good WiFi card  employing the AC wireless protocol(important for getting into WEP secured networks/testing wifi for vulnerabilties):

When you are finding bugs and using tools, you need to move quickly and doing so via touch pad is not very efficient.

500GB (It does not matter a lot. Hackers don’t need a lot of space, unless you are hacking into triple A games – even that will get you into jail). Having  an SSD though, will make running VMs snappier. Plus you would also want a SSD or SSHD so you aren’t waiting for a spinning drive to accomplish your hackery.

Finally, I make up my mind and then, I decided and announced a specific time for my online streaming to the students. And they said, Ok respected teacher. Most of the children don’t want to study at this age. And it is quite funny that we all are also the same in our student lives. But believe me; the students took so much interest to study by this method that their progress has proved it to me.

When I look at all such progress and student’s interest, then I decided that I will continue streaming sessions. So, always in the specific evening timings, I give lessons to my students via live streaming. They enjoy it and listen to it very well. All my hard work on them becomes fruitful as I see their progress in the exam.

My student’s progress is a proud moment for me always.  Now, live streaming is my passion. I also make other live streaming videos on my YouTube channel besides teaching. This thing is not only amazing but interesting too.
